With Tele2 Kids, your children can always reach you without surprises on the bill.
This new SIM-only plan from the Dutch provider Tele2 automatically stops when the bundle runs out.
Here are 3 things you need to know about the new plan made especially for children.
Tele2 Kids: always reachable
Children are getting a smartphone at an ever younger age, but they cannot always handle it well. For example, they watch too much YouTube over mobile internet, resulting in a high bill. Tele2 has the solution and is introducing a SIM-only plan especially for children.
1. No unexpected costs
With Tele2 Kids, children can use the internet and make unlimited calls and texts to three phone numbers (in the Netherlands). The data bundle is 1GB. That is enough for sending WhatsApp messages, but on the low side if your child often watches YouTube videos or Instagram Stories on the go.
Thanks to this special plan for kids, you as a parent will not be faced with unexpected costs. For example, when the data bundle runs out it is automatically stopped, so your child does not run up costs outside the bundle.
2. You stay in control
Many parents give their child a phone because, of course, you want to be the first to know in an emergency. Tele2 Kids takes this into account and lets children make unlimited calls to three phone numbers. That way they can always reach you. Calls to other numbers cost 0.15 euros per minute.
Parents can also use the Tele2 app to switch off service numbers or use abroad, for example. That way you avoid surprises on the bill. In the same app you can see your child’s usage in real time and buy extra data if the 1GB has run out.
3. The costs
Tele2 Kids costs 7 euros a month with a one-year contract, plus a one-off connection fee of 15 euros. Are you and your child already with Tele2? It is not possible to convert an existing plan to the Kids package.
Costs outside the bundle
Your child can still incur costs outside the bundle. Tele2 does try to limit this by setting a maximum of 10 euros. You also receive a text message as soon as your offspring has used 80 percent of their bundle. When your child reaches that amount, you receive a text notification and all services are blocked. This means your child can no longer use the internet, make calls and/or send texts at all. Not even to the three numbers they can normally call without limit. They can still be called and receive text messages.
The text message from Tele2 contains an iDEAL payment link that lets you pay the amount straight away. As soon as that is done, your child can use all services again, with a new maximum of €10 for costs outside the bundle. If the amount is only paid with the regular bill, all services remain blocked until the new month starts.
More control?
Smartphones are really handy, but they can also be dangerous and addictive. That is why there are more and more apps that let parents keep an eye on things digitally as well.
One example is Google Family Link, which you can use to set digital ‘house rules’ for your family. That way you prevent your children from getting square eyes, make sure they go to bed on time, and more. Want to know how Google Family Link compares to Mytimingcards? And of course, don’t forget Mytimingcards: by giving your child the agreed number of Mytimingcards every week, your child decides when to use the cards, and when they are gone, they are gone! Arguments are a thing of the past for good!
